Public Hearing And Testimony April 21 On State Performance Audit Of Seattle City Light

by Matt Rosenberg March 31st, 2010

Earlier this month, the office of Washington State Auditor Brian Sonntag (left) released a detailed performance audit of Seattle City Light, which we reported at our public documents database Public Data Ferret.

Sonntag

Recommended in the audit were several significant improvements in business processes which could save Seattle City Light and rate-payers tens of millions of dollars. State Auditor performance audits of major public entities were authorized by voters in November 2005 through passage of Initiative 900.

On April 21 at 1 p.m. in Room 4 of the John A. Cherberg Building on the state legislature’s Olympia campus, the I-900 Subcommittee of the Joint Legislative Audit Review Committee will hold a public hearing on the performance audit of Seattle City Light.

Sonntag’s office will give a presentation on their findings, and public testimony will be taken. Here is the agenda. The hearing will be preceded by a meeting of the full JLARC in the same room from 10:00 a.m. to noon (agenda here). If you have question for committee staff, the committee’s phone number is (360) 786-5171. The committee’s full staff roster, with individual phone numbers and e-mail addresses, is here.
